Dochen REALTORS® prides ourselves on the ability to help our clients find their perfect home in Austin, no matter the price. That’s why when we visited Community First! Village for the first time two years ago, we knew we had to be part of this amazing community.

Community First! Village is a master planned community in Austin that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive environment for people coming out of chronic homelessness. We were impressed by their comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of people going through this transition.

Through the generosity of our agents and many contributions from our clients, we pooled our resources to underwrite the construction of a new micro-home at Community First! Village.

As some of you know, we lost our dear Broker Associate, Stuart Slicis, earlier this year. Beloved by his colleagues and clients alike, Stuart was one of the most positive, magnetic people any of us have had the privilege to know. He is dearly missed.

Toward the end of his life, we let Stuart know we would be dedicating the Dochen Realtors house at Community First! Village to his memory. We wish he could have joined us last week when we visited the newly built home, “Stu’s Place.”

Pictured above is the Dochen Realtors team, along with Stuart’s partner Bryant Hilton (holding the plaque), and a member of the Community First! Village support staff. We think this home is the perfect tribute to our friend, who brought so much joy and built community everywhere he went.

While we know the need for affordable housing in Austin is still great, we are proud to join with organizations like Community First! Village, to do our part in helping all Austinites find their perfect home.

All Community First! Village residents must pay rent, and the Village provides a variety of opportunities for them to earn a dignified income. The Community Forge is a contemporary blacksmith shop, combining high quality craftsmanship with a mission for human dignity through metal work.

Communal outdoor kitchens located throughout the Village provide space for neighbors to gather and build community.

One of the Village’s micro-homes has been transformed into a cozy library.

Alamo Drafthouse donated the Community Cinema & Amphitheater. The cinema offers free movie screenings and serves as a venue for community events. We rented out the space for our client appreciation party last year, and we look forward to hosting our friends and families there again in the future!

As one of the country’s largest tiny house bed-and-breakfast sites, the Community Inn offers eclectic and affordable options for guests, and can be rented through Airbnb.

The Tipis are also part of the Community Inn and can accommodate larger groups.
