Know Your House is for anyone who owns a home in Central Austin. Whether you’ve lived in your house for twenty years or two, whether you’re planning to sell next spring, in a few years, or no time soon — there’s something in this series for you.
We’ve spent decades in this neighborhood helping people buy, sell, and understand the homes they own, and we’re excited to share what we know with the community we love!
Here’s what we’ll cover:
Session 1 — Wednesday, September 16 · 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
The Long Game: Planning Ahead for a Home You’ll Love (and Someday Sell)
Your home is probably your largest asset — and most of us manage it less intentionally than we do the rest of our portfolios. This session covers how to think about your home strategically: which improvements actually hold their value, which remodels offer real ROI, and which ones feel good but don’t make financial sense. We’ll also discuss how to prioritize your time and money when demand exceeds your budget, and how the decisions you make today look different depending on your time horizon.
Session 2 — Wednesday, October 14 · 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Your House Through an Inspector’s Eyes: System by System, What to Watch, Fix, and Never Ignore
(Featured speaker: Andy Jordan, Our #1 trusted home inspector!) Most homeowners only meet a home inspector when they’re buying or selling — which means they’re missing years of knowledge that could save them thousands. Our go-to inspector has been inside more Central Austin homes than almost anyone, and in this session he’s going to share what he actually sees: the maintenance habits that prevent small problems from becoming catastrophic and the warning signs that are easy to catch early and expensive to ignore. We’ll go system by system — roof, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and more — with honest talk about what regular upkeep actually looks like.
Session 3 — Thursday, November 12 · 5:00 – 6:30 pm
When the Time Comes: Making Smart Decisions About Your Home’s Next Chapter
By now you know how to think about your home as an asset and you know what’s inside your walls. This session is where it all comes together. We’ll take everything we covered in Sessions 1 and 2 and apply it to the question you’ll eventually face: What should I do when it’s time to sell? What condition is my home actually in, what’s worth addressing before I list, what will buyers care about vs. what won’t move the needle, and what are all my options?
Space is limited, so grab your seat early. We’d love to see you there!
